How to pause notifications on Threads? (Or disable them permanently)

Recently joined Threads, and it has already started bugging you with notifying about new followers, accepted follow requests and your ongoing interactions on the platform!

Well, these notifications can be overbearing, especially if you have followed your Instagram friends on Threads during signup. Longer the list more the notifications you are likely to receive. And we all know that excessive notifications can be quite distracting, especially when you’re trying to focus on work or other tasks.

Thankfully, Threads offers you some settings that allows you to pause notifications on Threads or disable them permanently. Here’s how you can do it:

How to pause Threads app notifications temporarily?

One of the first steps you can take is to pause the notifications temporarily. This is particularly useful when you need a short break from the constant alerts but do not wish to completely disable them. Here is how to pause notifications on Threads app temporarily.

  1. Open the Threads app on your phone, and head over to your profile page.access menu on threads app

  4. Then on the popup select the duration for which you want to pause the notifications. You can choose from 15 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, or 8 hours.select duration of pausing threads notifications

Now your Threads app notifications will be paused for the duration you selected. After this period, you will start receiving notifications again. This feature is handy when you need a temporary break from the constant barrage of notifications.

How to permanently Disable notifications on Threads app?

Threads app offers a granule control over its app notifications. Similar to Instagram, you can either disable all sorts of notifications or choose to disable specific ones. From new followers and following request to notifications about new likes, replies and mentions, you can choose which ones you want to disable and which ones you don’t.

Here’s how to disable all notifications on Threads app permanently:

Once you’ve done this, you will no longer receive any notifications from Threads app. This can be particularly useful if you find the constant alerts to be too distracting or overwhelming.

However, keep in mind that you will also be missing out on updates and interactions on the app. If that’s the case, you might want to consider disabling only specific notifications instead of all.

How to Mute notifications from a specific Thread or Post on Threads app?

As of now, you cannot mute notifications from a specific thread or post on Threads. However, you can mute someone’s Threads account, if you find the notifications from a specific account to be too distracting.

Simply, tap on the three-dot menu on the thread or post from the account that you wish to mute and select Mute from the menu.

Doing so will not only stop all notifications from that account, but it will also prevent their posts from showing up in your feed. While this is not a perfect solution, it can significantly reduce the number of notifications you receive from Threads from a particular account.

Remember, muting an account will not unfollow them or block them, it will also stop their content from appearing in your feed. If you wish to see their content again, you will need to manually unmute the account.
